Terre Haute, IN- Union Health hosted a special dedication ceremony on Thursday, May 22nd to celebrate the installation of new playground equipment at its Union Hospital Child Development Center. This exciting project was made possible through generous donations from the Service League of Union Hospital, Inc. and Union Health Foundation.

The Union Hospital Child Development Center provides high-quality, nurturing care and early education for children in our community. The Union Hospital Child Development Center, located at 1729 North 6th Street, was created to provide full day child care services for Union Hospital Health Group employees and community members, supplying their children with a progressive, educational and nurturing program. Additionally, the center was designed to enhance the recruitment and retention of Union Hospital Health Group’s most valuable asset - its employees.

The new playground equipment was thoughtfully chosen to support active, imaginative, and inclusive play for children of all ages. This outdoor upgrade enhances the learning environment by encouraging physical activity, social interaction, and healthy development in a safe and engaging space.

Steve Holman, President and CEO, Union Health System said: "We are thrilled to unveil this new playground, which will bring joy and promote healthy development for our children. Thank you to the donors and community partners whose support made this possible."

Becky Miller, President, Union Health Foundation stated: "This project exemplifies our commitment to providing a nurturing environment for children to learn and grow. We’re dedicated to promoting the health and wellness of our families through initiatives like this that foster safe, engaging spaces for our children."

The Service League hosts fundraisers throughout the year to help make projects like this possible. Molly Callahan, Union Health System Board Chair and Chair for the Service League of Union Hospital, added: "The Service League is proud to have contributed to this

project, ensuring children have a safe and fun space to play. We believe play is essential to childhood development, and we’re happy to be part of this initiative.”

The new playground will benefit the many children who attend the center, reinforcing Union Health’s commitment to supporting working families and building a healthy, thriving workforce.
