Dr. Shashikumar RH Gowda attended medical school at KIMS in Bangalore, India, and completed his residency in Internal Medicine both in India and at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. After practicing Internal Medicine for two years in Northeast Indiana, he returned to Chicago Medical School to complete his fellowship training in Pulmonary/Critical Care and Sleep Medicine.

He moved to Terre Haute in 2002 with his family, and Terre Haute has been his home ever since.

Dr. Gowda is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Disorders Medicine. He practices in both hospital and outpatient settings, providing care for critically ill patients in the ICU. His special interests include COPD, interstitial lung diseases, pulmonary hypertension, and sleep medicine. He also has satellite offices and oversees a local long-term ventilator facility.
Over the years, Dr. Gowda has taught medical students and residents and has actively participated in continuing education programs. He has served as a guest faculty member for the IU School of Medicine.
