Dr. John B. Meding brings over 30 years of practice experience to Indiana Joint Replacement Institute in reconstruction of the adult hip, knee, and shoulder. His areas of expertise include primary and revision hip, knee, and shoulder replacement, partial knee replacement, outpatient total joint replacement, and robotic knee replacement. He has always been dedicated to clinical research with the ultimate goal of achieving the best outcome for every patient. The art and science of total joint replacement is always evolving and Dr. Meding believes the only way to stay on top of the field is through the never-ending work of clinical investigation.
Dr. Meding was born and raised in northern Indiana and received his college degree in Mathematics from Milligan College in Tennessee. He graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine and then completed his internship in general surgery and residency training in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Cincinnati. His fellowship in adult reconstruction and sports medicine was completed at the nationally recognized Center for Hip and Knee Surgery in Mooresville, Indiana. He is board certified by the ABOS.
To date, Dr. Meding has written over 180 peer-reviewed publications including clinical studies and book chapters on primary and advance hip and knee reconstruction techniques. He has lectured at national and international meetings, presenting research on a wide variety of hip and knee reconstruction topics. His memberships include the Hip Society, the Knee Society, the European Hip Society, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, The Society of Arthritic Joint Surgery, the Orthopaedic Research Society, and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
Over the years, Dr. Meding has had numerous leadership appointments including Medical Staff President and Vice President, the AAOS Hip and Knee Arthritis Committee, and the AAOS Hip and Knee Adult Reconstruction Program Subcommittee. He was the managing partner of the Center for Hip and Knee Surgery from 2001 to 2010. Currently, he serves as an editorial reviewer for The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, and the Journal of Arthroplasty.
