3D mammography is now available at Union Hospital Clinton. This technology allows imaging specialists to get an even more detailed image, so they can find smaller nodules that may be “hiding” in dense breast tissue.
The end results help Union Hospital Clinton imaging specialists catch more cancers earlier - and it’s that earlier detection that can save lives. If a cancer is located only in the breast, the 5-year survival rate for women is 99%!
“Union Hospital Clinton is committed to the fight against breast cancer and improving women’s health,” says Stephanie Laws, MSN, RN Vice President and Administrator of Union Hospital Clinton. “By offering the most advanced digital 3D mammography technology, we can provide the best and most effective imaging for breast cancer screenings.”
Patients can call to set up their own 3D mammograms if it’s been at least 1 year since the previous mammogram and they’re showing no symptoms (lump/pain). For patients who are following up on a personal history of breast cancer, a possible positive finding from the most recent mammogram, or are experiencing symptoms, a doctor’s referral is needed.
Most mammogram results are sent to the patient’s home within 7-10 days. For diagnostic mammograms (for patients experiencing symptoms), the results are given to the patient after their test is done and before they leave the facility.
Any woman age 40 or over is encouraged to get an annual screening. To schedule your mammogram, contact Union Hospital Clinton’s Central Scheduling at 765-832-1559.
