Dr. Chirag Patel is a native of Terre Haute, having graduated from Terre Haute South Vigo in 2000.  He went on to complete his undergraduate education in Bloomington, IN at Indiana University.  He majored in Biochemistry and Spanish with a certificate from the Liberal Arts and Management Program and graduated Phi Beta Kappa.  He then moved to Indianapolis to attend the Indiana University School of Medicine.  He graduated in 2004 as a member of both Alpha Omega Alpha and the Golden Key Honor societies.  He completed his tranisitional year internship at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and then moved to Dallas, Texas where he completed his residency at the University of Texas Southwestern, recognized as one of the most prestigious residencies in the country.   He then moved to Chicago, IL where he completed a fellowship in glaucoma.  After his training he returned to Terre Haute to start practicing with Union Health Group.  Dr. Patel enjoys practicing comprehensive ophthalmology and treating all diseases of the eye.  He is a high volume cataract surgeon and the only glaucoma trained surgeon in the Wabash Valley.  He performs thousands of procedures a year from cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, intravitreal injections for macular degeneration, and laser surgery for diseases such as glaucoma, diabetes, and secondary cataracts.  In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis, and following the Indiana Hoosiers and Indianapolis Colts.
